An 18th-century Spanish galleon ship ran aground on July 8, 1772, and has since become part of a preserve for divers looking to hunt for ancient objects.
This lovely little museum introduces guests to the history of the island, from the Arawaks to present day. Its wonderful collection, including photographs and artifacts, are all lovingly kept by one dedicated curator.
Although the island is only 17 miles long (27 km) and 3 miles across (4.8 km) at its widest point, much of it is still uninhabited, with excellent opportunities for exploring. Start just past the turn to Junks Hole and look for goats, lizards, a vast variety of birds and bonsai-like trees.
