Overview

Gstaad has always been a favorite spot of the jet-set and the glitterati – the ideal place to “see and be seen”. But next to the many celebrities who come here, this world-famous and exclusive Swiss resort is famed for one thing: its breathtaking scenery of the majestic Bernese Alps.

For its 100th anniversary in 2010, the Grand Hotel Park is offering itself a rejuvenating cure and will therefore undergo some renovations. Thereafter, its guests will be welcomed to its new contemporary design, harmonizing traditional chalet-style with state-of-the-art elegancy. With respect for nature, tradition and sustainability, the choice of the necessary materials will be of high importance. Rooms, Suites and the new created Penthouse Suites (approximate size between 123m2 and 400m2) will become a good combination between contemporary and traditional style of the nearby luxurious chalets. The materials used will be wood, natural stone, and fabrics and cloths will be replaced with natural wool. We will follow the same guidelines of decoration on the rest of the building like the restaurants and bars, the lobby and all the other public areas.

Leading the way to Carbon Neutral Stay

The Leading Hotels of the World, Ltd. (LHW) is delighted to make the financial commitment to STI to offset our guest's energy consumption while staying at any one of our hotels. Although this is not the best solution for addressing climate change, it is our first endeavor to help reduce unavoidable greenhouse gas emissions.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration calculates that the average building uses 29.3 kilowatt-hours of electricity per square foot per year. Based on this number STI has computed the total amount of pounds of greenhouse gas emissions emitted per room night including the average common area spaces.

The Leading Hotels is also offering our guests the opportunity to voluntarily donate the computed amount necessary to offset their waste, water, transportation or all carbon emissions.
