Dublin On The Map

An Ultra-Modern Design Destination Is On The Rise In The Burgeoning Docklands District
Inspiration Is Everywhere

From the ultra-modern checkerboard of The Marker's façade emerging out of Grand Canal Square, to the elemental Irish landscapes influencing its design, every inch of Manuel Aires Mateus’s hotel concept invokes the natural aesthetics for which Ireland is legendary: the cliffs of Moher, the Burren, Giant’s Causeway.

The Docklands district surrounding the hotel is quickly becoming a cosmopolitan design destination in its own right, with projects by world-renowned starchitects at every turn (Daniel Libeskind’s Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, Martha Schwartz’s iconic design at Grand Canal Square, Santiago Calatrava’s Samuel Beckett Bridge).

The Marker is paying tribute to Dublin’s talented maker's with a private tour of the city’s Design Tower, a converted seven-story warehouse serving as a design center and studio space for local artists, craftspeople, and creators.

A Local Design Tour

The Marker has a longstanding relationship with high-end design: from the hotel’s coveted location in the emerging Docklands district, to its sleek modern architecture, unparalleled city views, emerald infinity pool, and Philippe Starck lamps in each of the guestrooms.

The Marker also supports burgeoning talent and local creators working in the Design Tower, a seven-story work space in a converted 19th century warehouse. Allow The Marker to arrange an exclusive tour of the studios at the Tower during your next trip to the Emerald Isle.

Just a short walk across Grand Canal Square, the head concierge escorts guests to the Tower sharing his knowledge of the Docklands district and its history along the way. Upon arrival at the Tower, which consists of studios and showrooms where award-winning goldsmiths, jewelry designers, ceramics artists, sculptors, painters, and textile conservationists brainstorm, create, and refine a variety of crafts and objets d'art, the concierge can connect guests to meet one-on-one with select artisans. During a private tour of the studios guests gain insight into each artists' work and an exclusive behind-the-scenes view of contemporary Irish design in the environment that influenced its creation.
