  • Overview
The Silken Gran Hotel Domine Bilbao, facing the Guggenheim Museum, is the Silken Hotels' first five-star and the chain's pride. The Silken Gran Hotel Domine Bilbao expresses a contemporary concept that avoids ostentation and promotes fun. The project is infected by its neighbour, the Guggenheim's, activity and offers a space that contains a selection of furniture that represents the most emblematic design from the 20th century. Its singularity consists in the application of a concept of integral design, of great, formal coherence, carried out by Javier Mariscal and Fernando Salas with their respective teams. Silken Gran Hotel Domine Bilbao isn't only a hotel to stay at, but a colourist micro cosmos that opens its door to whoever wishes to get close to it and have a coffee, a drink or eat in its restaurant.
  • Dining In
    1. Restaurant: The taste for the essential that expresses Beltz the Black's minimalist scenography is transmitted to the food, where the prime material is the character. Eating in the Basque country is serious, that's why the kitchen is sat upon solid pillars, forged with intelligence and imagination. Depending on the gastronomic direction of Ramón Berriozabal, a national prize-winner for gastronomy. Opening hours: Mon to Sat 13h-15.30h / 21-23.30h: Sun 13h-15.30h 2. Cafeteria: Le Café Metropol - Its interiorism is a homage to Bauhaus and the designers who stood out in the 20's of the 20th Century. This is why it's expressed in black and white and uses stainless steel, a material that reflects the trust in new technology that moved them. The crystallised closing turns into an open view of the urban street with the Guggenheim in full view. The neighbourhood of the museum reassures an atmosphere and a cosmopolitan audience. Opening hours: Mon to Thurs and Sun 8h-24h; Fri and Sat 8h-1h 3. Bar: The Splash & Crash - Red and white characterises its interior. The colours evoke the passion and purity that were necessary to believe in the ideals that were forged in the 70's, the epoch that inspired its decoration. This is a place thought out so one can express themselves openly over a good drink, listening to good music and enjoying a good late night atmosphere. Opening hours: Mon to Thurs 13h-1h; Fri and Sat 13h-3h and Sun 15h-24h.
  • Recreation and Health
The Gym: Located on the terrace, it overlooks the Guggenheim Museum and has a Sauna, a Steam Room as well as weights and work out machines like steps, static bikes.
  • Features
    1. The Terrace: A large terrace paved with teakwood from where unusual views of the Guggenheim and the Ría can be taken in, and a covered zone by a copper-latticed canopy that shelters those wishing to shelter high up, allowing the appreciation of the geography of a place where modernisation doesn't prevent the natural countryside from strongly coming forth from where the urban landscape is interrupted. From the Buenasvistas Terrace, in the heights and the fresh air, the world is perceived from a serene distance. 2. The library: This is the space which best pays homage to the design of the 20th Century. A place that, far from looking like an exposition of objects of design, manages to establish a relaxing dialogue, filled with warmth, so that you can read or converse upon the grass calmly. A chimney lit up in winter warms the atmosphere and makes it even more welcoming. In the Txoko Tranquilo Corner a library has been created with titles related to design, architecture and interiorism.
