The seasonal Royal Barrière attracts a chic crowd to its award-winning restaurant and Jacques Garcia–designed rooms.
Just two hours from Paris in the seaside town of Deauville, the Hotel Royal Barrière is open from March to October when the so-called Queen of Norman Beaches is at its most alluring. A chic crowd comes for the annual film festival and to enjoy one of France’s most fashionable coastal playgrounds. At the Royal Barrière, they stay in an oceanfront palace, with Jacques Garcia–designed rooms and suites, and a Michelin-star restaurant, L’Etier. Chef Eric Provost, who trained with Joël Robuchon and Alain Ducasse, devises a delicate menu based on seasonal and local availability. During the day, guests can claim a sun lounger by the heated swimming pool or a cabana on the beach, or they can tour the area on one of the complimentary bicycles.
