Part Of The Process
In 1920, the Morenete's, a local family of leather crafters, were looking for a way to capitalize on the high style that the Modernist movement brought to Barcelona, as were many other artisans. They opened an atelier in the Gracia neighborhood, and began creating suitcases and trunks made by hand from high quality leather. The goods were well-received and quickly in demand, accompanying travelers sailing on cruise ships out of the port of Barcelona, and showing off Catalan style around the world.
The company became known as the purveyor of luxury goods, and, as its status grew, it added accessories to its collection of leather goods, including handbags that would become the brand’s signature. In 1989, the family established the brand, Lupo Barcelona.
For Hotel Casa Fuster guests, entering the workshop is a chance to see the exacting standards of Spanish craftmanship, and the precise process through which each Lupo design is born. But this isn't a walk-through relegated to watching from the wings. Guests have the rare opportunity to participate in customization as they select up to four initials for inclusion on the Lupo bag of their choice.
