Sentosa Island is renowned as a golf destination with striking landscapes and sheltered beaches, but it was the Capella Singapore that introduced an element of high design. Successfully blending colonial and contemporary aesthetics, the property was designed by Foster Partners, who are noted for innovative architecture. The center of the sprawling grounds is a white Patrician building with two modern wings that house sleek guest rooms. Interiors, by designer Jaya Ibrahim, echo the period motif with selected Asian and colonial accents. The setting, among 30 acres of manicured grounds edged by rainforest overlooking the South China Sea, inspires relaxation. The Auriga Spa is top-notch and staffed with therapists trained in traditional Asian and contemporary techniques.
