While there's more than enough activity to get the adrenaline pumping at the Carillon Miami Wellness Resort, active adventure picks up steam a few miles away at Florida's largest urban park.
The resort has teamed up with Oleta River State Park, where guests can climb aboard mountain bikes to take on miles and miles of off-road paths, or embark on a sunset excursion via stand-up paddleboard or kayak. Join a guided tour, or find your own way through acres and acres of Florida woodlands.
Continue on your paddleboard through mangroves, leading out to picturesque Biscayne Bay, just in time to catch the perfect sunset.
A cyclist’s paradise, the park has 14 miles of off-road trails, ten miles of which will push the limits of intermediate riders through different sand, dirt and grass terrains. Trails twist through areas of lush vegetation along mangrove creeks and forest preserves. For beginners, there are over four miles of novice trails, and a paved trail that offers optimal conditions for roller blading.
On water, kayakers have the opportunity to wind through inlets, which lead out to picturesque Biscayne Bay, just in time to catch the perfect sunset. Paddleboarders can explore the area by night, with a route illuminated by bright lights placed on the front and back of each board. Never paddled before? Professional instructors help get beginners get their bearings, and with a slim learning curve, beginners will be up on their boards in no time.
Once guests have mastered the ways of SUP, there’s always the option to go one step further with a Sunday morning yoga session made more challenging by taking place on a paddleboard gently rocking on the Oleta River.
Whether hitting the trails, or finding your center on a SUP, there's something for everyone under the Miami sun.
